The happy couple left for the bride's home in McCreary, Man. Prior to the ceremony many showers were held in the bride's honor. The first was at the home of Mrs. Messenger when telephone staff operators and a host of friends brought many useful gifts. Miss McCloughlin had been on the telephone staff for seven years. The Presbyterian Ladies' Aid and Choir also had a happy function for the bride with presentations of lovely woolen blankets and a silver fruit dish.

Martin was the name he went by even though he was named Henry Martin; he was a farmer. My mother worked in the telephone office in Tisdale before they were married. In 1937 it was the custom to quit your job and be a full time housewife upon being married. In 1961 they sold the farm and my father worked as a school bus driver. Other than a brief time perhaps one year spent in Red Deer Alberta, they resided in Tisdale.

LATE MR. H. ARGALL. - The funeral of Mr. Henry Argall, Shepherds Farm, Newlyn East, took place at Newlyn on Friday. Deceased, who was 75 years of age, had farmed in the parish all his life, having been born at Meltra, where his father farmed. This farm had been in the family for 150 years. Mr. Argall was of a genial disposition, anf highly respected.

In the Trenches, Somewhere in France, Thursday, 11th May, 1916.
As you can see I am still alive and kicking, and things are pretty good with me; only, they are not too good when Fritz over yonder starts lobbing shells about here, and he is not very particular where he puts them. I have managed to dodge all the shells so far, but have had a few lucky es-
capes, which I hope to be able to relate to all of you when the war is over. When we first arrived in France it was raining and cold for the first couple of weeks, but now the rain has stopped, and it is getting warmer, so things ought to be livening up, although it is somewhat lively round about here fairly often. I heard that there has been a great season up around Orange, so I expect matters
in the office are pretty busy. One thing about this game, Charlie, there are no ''bungs" to answer; but very often, if a chap has stiff luck and gets caught pinching into town (for we go into a town for a spell every now and again) he has to toe the carpet before the colonel. I don't know what would be the best, toeing it before him or E.M. What's the new boss like there? I expect E.M. will be
Chief Commissioner very soon, and I think he will make a good one. I have run into a few Orange chaps back in Egypt, but have not seen very many here. Met Oliver Thwaite here, and he looked well on it. I believe Charlie Finch and Len Cockett have donned the khaki; in fact, I suppose a good few have come away since I left. Those chaps made it willing rioting like they did. They ought to
be put out on the desert, where we were before we came here. Digging trenches in the sand would have taken it all out of them.
Well, Charlie, I think I will have to buzz off, so I will close. I have a pretty good time, in the scouts, and there are only a few of us, and we have got a good officer. I can tell you we get plenty of excitement in our game, but I will not be able to write about my experiences here. I hope to be able to tell you about them later.

Herbert seems to have been the only death in a raiding party of volunteers, a raid in which an 18 year old farmer from NSW won the VC for carrying wounded comrades back from the enemy trenches, and going back to look for two more after serious wounding on his third trip across No Man's Land. So in addition to the Battalion Diaries, there may be something of relevance in the VC citation. The similarly respectful letter from Annie to the 'Officer in Charge', on 25 July 1916, was just as moving to read:
Dear Sir, Can you give us any information concerning the death of No 2330 Private Herbert Henry Argall, D Company, 19th Battalion, 5th Brigade AIF who was killed in action on the 23rd of June 1916 you will greatly oblige his loving Mother. Yours Sincerely A.Argall
The information available was, of course, negligible, and seems to remain negligible. He is buried in Brewery Orchard Cemetery, Nord, France. Grave No. IV D.29.

"Long before you get this you will have had the sad official news of the death of your son, Private H. H. Argall, of the 19th Battalion, A.I.F., but I thought you would like to have what details I can give you. He was killed while on duty on Friday night, 23rd June, and death was practically instantaneous. I buried him in a little cemetery close to here on Saturday, and I could tell you after the war where he is buried, if you wished. Your son was a good soldier, and was well spoken of by his officers and comrades, and though I know well how great your loss is, yet you may
well be proud of him- With deep sympathy."

Sergt. Stan Craske, of D Coy., 19th Battalion, writes to Mr. Argall as follows:
Dear Mr. Argall, I am at last permitted to let you know of the circumstances of your son's death. 'Snow,' as he was always known to us, joined my platoon in Egypt, and was with me all the time. On arrival at the trenches I was chosen as Sergeant of the Scouts, and when volunteers were called for he came with me. He was my partner all the time, because he was a boy I could trust to help me in times of difficulty, and he never showed the slightest fear. On the night of June 23rd the two of us were showing two men from another battalion over some of No-Man's Land when the enemy opened up a machine gun, and 'Snow,' who was at my elbow, was hit with fourteen bullets. Death was almost instantaneous, and the only words he said were, 'I'm hit.' We carried him in, and he was buried in the British cemetery near Bois Grenier. Both you and Mrs. Argall have my deepest sympathy in the loss of such a son, because he was one in a thousand and a boy you can be proud of. He was a favorite with us all, because of the clean life he lived. I was myself wounded outside Pozieres, having one hand torn open, a piece of shell through my leg, and another piece through one foot, and a small piece in the instep. These are all nearly better now."

I am now in charge of the platoon to which your son belonged, and on the night of the 23rd he was a member of a party scouting in No. Man's Land. An enemy machine gun fired a burst, and your son was unhappily a victim. However, I am sure you will be pleased to hear that he suffered no pain in his death, and was brought back to our trenches

Mrs. Breen of 1435 Haddock Drive, died Tuesday in a Reno hospital at the age of 90.
Born July 29, 1888, in Leadville, Colo., she had lived in Denver, Colo., before moving to Reno 17 years ago.
A homemaker, Mrs. Breen was a widow.
Survivors include daughters, Emmy Lou Breen of Reno and Winnie Ricci of Yerington; a sister , Gladys Brott of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated ay 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church , 590 Pyramid Way, Sparks, where Mrs. Breen was a member.
Burial will be at Denver at Fairmount Cemetery.

WEDDING BELLS ARGALL - CARRE
The Church of Christ at Canley Heights was the scene of a charming ceremony on Saturday last when Daphne, third daughter of Mr and Mrs N D Carre, of Canley Heights, and Hilton, second son of Mr and Mrs Argall, of Fairfield, were married. Pastor Ross Rugendyke officiated, and the church decorations were carried out by Mesdames F W and A V Stimson, using a variety of spring flowers.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a lace gown over a satin underskirt. Her headress was a coronet of pearls, with a full length veil, loaned by her sister, Mrs Eames. She carried a bouquet of white gladioli and carnations with a centrepiece of pink orchids.
Attending the bride were her sister, Mrs Mac Dalziel, matron of honour, dressed in pink figured organza with matching headress, and Miss Merle Argall (sister of the bridegroom) as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of green figured organza, with matching headress. Both attendant carried bouquets of pink and mauve gladioli, with touches of cream.
The best man was Mr Mac Dalziel, brother-in-law of the bride, and the bridegroom's brother, Mr Trevor Argall, acted as groomsman.
Mr Clive Wayne who was as usual, was in excellent voice, delighted with his rendering of "All Joy be Thine"before the ceremony, and "For You Alone" while the register was being signed, Mrs Burling accompanied on the organ.
Some two hundred or more well-wishers attended the church, and the guests were later received at R.S.L. Hall, Pevensey Street, by the bride's mother, who wore an orchid pink crepe frock, charcoal grey coat with black accessories, and a spray of pink orchids. The mother of the bridegroom wore a green suit, lemon blouse, with matching hat and gloves. Her accessories were black, and she wore a spray of lemon orchids.
At the reception, which was attended by over a hundred guests, the duties of chairman were capably carried out by Pastor Rugendyke. The loyal toast and other customary toasts were honored.
The three-tiered wedding cake, which had be made and decorated by Mrs Pat Thomas, a workmate of the bride, formed a beautiful centrepiece on the bride's table.
The evening's entertainment was capably compered by Mr W Armstrong. Items rendered during the evening were recitations by Miss Florence Gibson and Mr (Uncle) Bill Smith; solos, Mr Keith Wagner (piano accordion); Mr Don Keets and Mr Jackie Ashcroft (guitar and vocal items).
Afterwards the happy couple returned to the hall - the bride in her going away outfit consisting of a pick gabardine suit, blue blouse and gloves and black accessories. Miss Ethel Dwyer sang Alexander's Marriage Hymn as a fitting finale to a very happy event. Mrs Burning, Senr. was the pianist throughout the evening.
The reception ended with the customary "Wish Me Luck" and "Auld Lang Syne" as the couple left for the honeymoon spent at Yamba, North Coast.

MINERAL POINT - Funeral services for Honer G. Argall, 45, lifelong resident of this area who died Tuesday at Dodgeville Hospital after suffering a heart attack at his farm home in the town of Mifflin, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mineral Point Methodist church.
A graduate of Mineral Point high school, Mr. Argall had been a member of the Mt. Vernon school board for the past 18 years.

He was retired after 28 years as a maintenance man with the McHenry County Highway Department.
Survivors include one son, Don (Mary) Argall; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth. (Herman) Krause, Hampshire; three grandchildren, Mandy and Kevin Krause and Molly Argall; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Augustine, Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers.
Friends may call at the Marengo-Union Funeral Home from 3 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10. The Rev. Sandra Mineau will conduct funeral services at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery.

Irving Argall Dies Suddenly At Home Here
Irving H. Argall, 68, died at his home at 213 Tait avenue unexpectedly last night after returning from a meeting of the Odd Fellows lodge.
Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Argall was stricken after he had gone to bed smd died immediately.
Since moving to Los Gatos 21 years ago after retiring as coroner of Marquette county, Michigan, Argall was associated Los Gatos Night Ball association as score-keeper for 10 years. He was night clerk at San Jose YMCA for 11 years until his retirement in June.
A native of Michigan Argall is survived by his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Argall, two sons, George H. Argall of Los Gatos, and Clifford I. Argall, of Salt Lake City, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services are pending at the Place Funeral Home.

MADISON/BARABOO- Jacqueline Sue O'Flahrity, age 86, passed away peacefully at Oak Park Place in Baraboo on April 5, 2022.
Jackie was born on August 10, 1935, in Mineral Point, WI to Alfred and Madge (Brewer) Argall. She married the love of her life, Thomas L. O'Flahrity who passed away in July of 1990.
Jackie retired from Aramark in Madison.
She was known for her love of family, flower gardening, dogs, birds, dairy cows, tractors, the Green Bay Packers, UW Badgers and coffee. Jackie loved reading the WI State Journal, and there was always a copy on the kitchen table. If you stopped by and the Packers or Badgers were not on the TV, there was always a pot of coffee and oldies music playing. A special memory for Barb were the Mother's Day trips with Jackie, choosing flowers for springtime planting. You always knew where you stood with Jackie, she will be greatly missed.
Jackie is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Elena) of CO; granddaughters, Katie of Baraboo, WI and Kelly of Thousand Oaks, CA; brothers, Tom (Lois) Argall of Muscoda, WI and Dick (Barb) Argall of Platteville, WI; daughter-in-law, Barbara O'Flahrity (David Witthuhn). She is further survived by other family and friends.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Tom; sons, Michael and Tom; and brother, Fritz Argall.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial at Highland Memory Gardens.
Jackie always enjoyed activities at Oak Park Place; thank you to the memory care unit for your love and care over the past four years; and to the Agrace nursing staff. A special thank you to Tori Miller of Oak Park Place and Jayme Powell, RN, of Agrace for your care and compassion over the last few days.
