Mrs. Florence G. Urban, 81, of 139 Old Gap St., Walnutport, died Thursday in her home. She was the widow of William Urban.
She worked at Phillips VanHeusen, Pottsville, and Bashore Knitting Mills, Schuylkill Haven, until reitrement in 1960.
Born in Braddock, Allegheny County, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Stevens) Argall.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy, wife of James Rossley of Secane, Delaware County, and Ruth, wife of John Stoneback, with whom she resided; a son William of Norristown; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Allen Funeral Home, 368 S. Center St., Pottsville. A calling hour will precede the services.

Beloit, Feb, 21, - Mrs. Florence A. Yates, wife of Porter B. Yates of the Berlin Machine Works Company, passed away at 7 o'clock last evening after a brief illness. Her loss is deeply mourned throughout the city, as it takes away one of Beloit's foremost and most highly esteemed women. Mrs. Yates was prominent in the First Presbyterian Church and Sunday school, was active in the D. A. R. and was a systematic giver to the charities of the city. She was about 40 years of age and leaves her husband and an infant daughter.

From April French in September 2022: We have found that Frances is in fact my mothers biological grandmother. She had a son she gave up for adoption. We are almost certain that Bonner was the father of my moms dad, but we are still struggling for certainly. She did recently receive her father's original birth certificate and Frances had told so many lies that it's very hard to depict what is true and what is not. However the census for the year she would've became pregnant with my grandfather, her and Bonner lived less than a block away from each other. BIOGRAPHICAL OR HISTORICAL NOTE: Frances S. (1893-1958) and Dorothy E. Argall (1899-1977) both worked as librarians for the San Diego Public Library for more than 30 years. Their parents, David John and Thomasina Laura Oates Argall, emigrated from Ireland to the United States around 1890 and lived in Colorado before moving to La Jolla, California, in 1904.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE: The collection consists of photograph albums, cartes de visite, cabinet cards, postcards, panoramic photographs, and other images documenting the family, friends, and activities of sisters Frances S. and Dorothy E. Argall. It includes studio portraits from Ireland and England of their parents and grandparents, as well as family gravestones; photographs of the family residence and the staff of the San Diego Public Library [ca. 1925]; snapshots of outings to La Jolla beach, Balboa Park, and San Diego County's back country; men in military uniform, Camp Kearny, and biplanes; and a photograph used for a newspaper story about the sisters many years of service as librarians for the public library. Panoramas depict a rodeo, automobiles on mountain roads, and other views of mountains in San Diego County, including sunrise services at Mt. Helix. THE ROYAL CORNWALL GAZETTE dated 28th May 1903 contains: Mr Frank Argall, brother of Miss Argall of Mingoose, formerly of Towan Cross, returned to his native place on Saturday after an absence in other lands of 50 years.
Would have been a recipient of £100 and household effects and furniture (including pictures) in his sister, Jane's Will in 1907 if he had been alive then. As he was dead, the items were bequeathed to her neice Jane Tregellas (#3747).
DEATH: Death is recorded in the GRO Indexes in the Truro Registration District for the March quarter of 1904, under reference 5c 93. Death is also recorded in CFHS Monumental Inscriptions of St Agnes; Tombstone still existing.

The funeral of Mr. Francis Argall, the last surviving son of the late Mr. W. H. Argall of the Victory Hotel, Towans Cross, St. Agnes, who died on the 12th inst., took place in the St. Agnes cemetery on Tuesday. The chief mourners were Miss Jane Argall, Miss N. Argall, Mr. R. Pearce, Mr. J. Tamblyn, and Captain Thomas Harris. A large number of family and friends also attended the last sad rites. On the polished oak coffin was the inscription: - "Francis Argall, died 12th January 1904, aged seventy-six years." The coffin was covered with beautiful wreaths sent by friends residing in London. The Reverend J. Barfett, vicar of Mount Hawke, officiated.

There is also a plaque inside the church at Mount Hawke. The full wording & description in the CIP Register reads:
"To the glory of God and in loving memory of FRANCIS ARGALL of this parish who departed this life 12 Jan 1904 aged 76 years. Also of his sister BETSY who died 19 Jan 1900 aged 67 years. The altar steps and sanctuary tiling are the gift of JANE ARGALL the devoted sister of the above (Easter 1906) who died December 24th 1906." Brass plaque with black and red lettering fixed to granite base of alter platform. CIP Ref. 612.
The plaque location appears on the location plan in the Register and also there is a photograph in the CIP archive. The photo is not very good, it shows all of the altar, lighting bad, but the plaque stands out (it is large and dominant at the base of the altar).

Rites are set for Frank Argall
Last rites will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the W. F. Gormley and Sons Funeral Home for Frank G. Argall, 67, management analyst at the Mather Air Force Base for eight years before his retirement two months ago. Burial will be in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, San Mateo County.
Argall died Thursday in the Sutter Hospital following an illness of six months. He resided at 1622 N. Street.
He was born and reared in San Jose, Santa Clara County and lived in Carmel, Monterey County, an San Francisco before moving to Sacramento eight years ago.
Argall was a chief pharmasists matein the navy dury World War 1 and while stationed in Scotland he joined the Fingal Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred, a son, Francis G., Jr., his daughter, Anne, of Sacramento, a sister, Mrs. Lillian Ford of Pacific Grove, Monterey County, brothers Marsden of Piedmont, Alameda County, and Donald of San Jose.

LAST RITES HELD FOR Dr. ARGALL.
Dr Frank L Argall, 93, who practised dentistry in San Jose for more than 50 years, died here Saturday afternoon, a few hours before his son, Marsden, noted baritone and opera star, was slated to sing the leading role in "The Mikado," in the civic auditorium here. But death did not halt Argall from giving a splendid performance of the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta. "The show must go on," regardless. Dr Argall was well known for many years in musical circles in Santa Cruz where he took part in many concerts. He posessed a beautiful tenor voice. In fact the entire Argall family were good singers and their home life was truly a musical one in San Jose. Dr Argall was the father of Marsden, Frank, Charles, Claude, Clarence, and of Mrs R T Ford. Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Wessendorf Mortuary Wednesday afternoon with interrment in the Santa Cruz crematory.

Dr. Frank L. Argall
Dr. Frank L. Argall was born in Cornwall, England, thirty-six years ago this August (1888); came to the United States in 1869, and to California in 1874 living meantime in New Jersey. Dr. Argall came immediately to San Jose, and, after attending school two years at the University of the Pacific, went into the office of Dr. J. N. Prather, to study dentistry. In 1883 he opened a dental office, and has since been engaged in active practice by himself. About three years ago Dr. William J. Younger, of San Francisco, mad a very important discovery in the science of dentistry by demonstrating the feasibility of the transplantation of teeth. It consists of boring out or preparing the cavity from which a tooth has been extracted a decayed tooth, or from which a tooth has been lost by any means, and inserting a healthy tooth, on which the pericementum, or membranous covering, has not been destroyed. When the work is properly done, even though the tooth transplanted may have been extracted months or even years before, a health union at once begins to take place with the organs of the alveolar cavity, and in a few months the tooth becomes as solid and firmly attached as the natural teeth which have never been disturbed. Some of these transplanted teeth put in by Dr. Younger have been used over twelve years, and are a perfect success. Within the past year Dr. Argall has given special attention to this valuable new feature in dentistry, and has performed several operations in transplanting teeth. A few months since he extracted the superior left lateral incisor tooth, which was too badly decayed to be filled, from the mouth of a young man, and in its place implanted the corresponding tooth extracted from a lady's mouth nearly three months before. Nature began to form the union, and in a short time the implanted tooth was nearly as firm as his others. This wonderful discovery in dental science demonstrates the tenacity of life possessed by the peridental membrane environing the teeth. Dr. Argall also performs all classes of professional dental work according to the most advanced methods of the science, among which is building new crowns on healthy roots.
Dr. Argall is the fifth of eight living brothers, two of whom are in Australia, and the rest in this country. His mother resides in San Jose. Dr. Argall was married June 27, 1888, to Miss Ella M. Bent, of San Jose.
CREMATION: He was cremated on 5 Sep 1945 at Santa Cruz Crematorium.

Stanley and his sister Norah were both abandoned by their mother in a doorway opposite Truro Cathedral where the (horse-drawn) buses then stopped. This happened after 1907 but before 1911 as the mother is not in that year's census. John Charles Grey, their uncle (who was a bus driver and married to a sister of Philip Argall), found them and took them home to Fiddler's Green, where he and his wife initially brought them up.
MARRIAGES: First marriage: Marriage took place in the United Methodist Church, Trelowarren Street, Camborne (in the Redruth Registration District). At the time, Francis was living in Fore Street, Pool, Illogan. The marriage is recorded in the GRO indexes for the Redruth Registration District in the September quarter of 1918 under reference 5c 364. The couple are listed as Francis S Argall and Winifred K Matthews.
He is reputed to have married 3 times further in South Africa, but information from Margaret Argall indicates he only married twice further; once to Gladys Catherine Christian (ending in divorce in about 1941 to 1944) and once again from which there are no children? The divorce seems to have been a lengthy process lasting over some years with Francis constantly opposing it. He was alive in the late 1960s: a letter was sent to Norah Prout (his sister) in 1975 informing her of Bertha's death on 21 Jan 1975. Stanley was then still alive but very senile.

Frank Argall, 50, of Forest Street, Bendigo, formerly, secretary of the Sandhurst Lodge of the United and Ancient Order of Druids was committed for trial in Bendigo City Court. Argall, who pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence, will be tried at Bendigo Supreme Court on June 15. A YOUNG ATTORNEY PROVES A BENEDICT.
HAPPY GROOM OF EIGHT MONTHS WELL KNOWN IN SAN JOSE.
Attorney Frank Argall, nephew of Dr Frank L Argall of this city, a prominent young attorney of San Francisco whi is well known in San Jose where he has been a frequent visitor, is a leading figure in a pretty little romance, which has just been disclosed as will be seen in the following dispatch from that city:
An interesting bit of romance which is woven about Frank Argall, a young San Francisco attorney and well known soloist on this side of the bay, and a demure little student at Miss Head's school for girls, has just leaked out in Berkeley. Young Argall and Miss Hope Glenn were secretly married in July last, but, with the help of two or three discreet friends, have managed to keep the affair from becoming known until the present. They had intended to announce it tomorrow, and then, although they had been wedded since midsummer, had intended to begin their honeymoon on Wednesday.
The young couple had been engaged for some time when they decided, last July, to be married. Miss Glenn's family was them, and still is, in the east, and not knowing how the marriage would be received by them, Argall and his bride planned to keep the event secret. The ceremony took place in Oakland on July 17th. The officiating clergyman was a friend of Argall's and the marriage was clebrated in his private office at the church. Whom this minister is, the young people decline to say at this present. Beside the principals, there were only two witnesses. One was a girl friend of the bride, the other was Charles H Harwood, a friend of thje groom. After the ceremony, Argall returned to his home in San Francisco and his bride went back to the home of an aunt with whom she was living in Oakland where she still resides. The principals and witnesses were all pledged to secrecy and, although a very few more of the close friends of the bride and groom were informed of the wedding, the couple succeeded in keeping their secret until now. Mrs Argall went back to Miss Head's seminary in Berkeley where she was a student and remained there for the fall term, no one suspected that the quite little girl was a bride.
Mrs Argall is the daughter of A. G. Glenn, a capitalist of San Francisco. He is expected to return from the east in a short time. The groom, whose parents reside in Grass Valley, has lived in Berkeley for 12 years. He graduated from the University of California in 1896, and was admitted to the bar two years ago. He is very well known in musical circles, and sings in the First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley.
Mr and Mrs Argall will leave on Wednesday for a short wedding trip after which they will live in San Francisco.

THE SAN FRANCISCO CALL of Sunday, December 5th 1909, carried an article about him (Frank Argall). He is described as a Clubman, Singer and graduate of the University, who has disappeared after being under police suspicion for stealing a diamond ring from his wife and pawning it. He then had stolen other jewellery and pawned those for cash. His business failures were blamed. The Newspaper alleges that he had stolen several thousand dollars from realty firms over a period of time. He had disappeared elsewhere for a period of time. His downfall was attributed to high living; he was a frequent visitor to the track and had spent a fortune there. He was believed to have gone to Honduras or some other central American state. However he also had a wonderful singing voice.

At an early afternoon ceremony today Miss Kathryn Carleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carleton of 150 Highland Place, became the bride of Frank Lee Argall, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Argall, of Glenoden, Pa. Canon E. B. Smith, rector of St. Luke's church, read the Episcopal rites at the Pasadena Wedding Chapel at 2:30 in the presence of a small group of relatives and friends. Mr. Carleton gave his daughter in marriage.
The bride wore an afternoon dress ..... (description of her attire).
Sister Attends
Miss Peggy Carleton, sister of the bride, was her only attendant. She wore a blue wool crepe dress with matching accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Carl Steffen of Los Angeles served Mr. Argall as best man.
The bride's mother wore a blue crepe afternoon gown with accessories to harmonise and a corsage of gardenias.
Reception at Hotel
Reception for 50 guests followed the chapel service at the Vista Del Arroyo where buffett refreshments included a lovely wedding cake. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brodie of Burlington, Vermont; Miss Louise Harlan of Salt Lake City and Miss Lois Greenwood of Eugene, Ore.

Immediately following the reception the couple left by motor for Galveston, Tex., where they will take the boat to New York and thence to Glenoden, Pa., where they will make their future home.
The new bride wore for her going away outfit a costume blue wool sports suit with grey accessories and a grey caracul jacket.
