Coy James Paxton
Funeral services for Coy James Paxton were held January 6 at Montevista Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Bagwell and the Rev. Matt Lovett officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
He died at Webster General Hospital, January 5, after a short illness. A native of Webster County, he was a retired Merchant Marine and a member of Walthall Baptist Church. He was 69.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Paxton; his mother, Mrs. Julie Paxton of Indianola; a daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Lesley of California; two step-daughters, Mrs. R. T. Orr of Eupora and Mrs. Eric Blomquist of New Orleans, La.; three step-sons, Henry Byrd, Eupora, John Byrd of Nicholson, Miss., and Claude Byrd of Berneich, La.; eight sisters, Mrs.Maudie Cummings of Mathiston, Mrs. Clera Fowler, Itta Bena, Miss., Mrs. Beatrice Scrivener of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Ruby Mae Mitchell, Mrs. E, V Outz, Mrs. Jewell Vance and Mrs. Clara Mayo, all of Indianola; and Mrs, Ruth Weeks of Cleveland. Nineteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive.
